Huawei Japan announced 3 smartwatches and true wireless earbuds in Japan. The higher-end models offer long battery life and new health-related features, while the company also announced stronger integration for the Japanese market and eSIM support. It explained its global leading shipment share based on IDC statistics and also specified the conditions for domestic rollout.
Huawei Japan announced 3 smartwatches and true wireless earbuds in Japan on 21 October. Key features include long battery life, the new “Body Status” function, which scores morning recovery based on sleep and activity levels, and the new Health Glance function, which measures using both the wrist and fingertips.
WATCH GT 7 Pro is rated for up to 21 days of normal use, while WATCH 6 is rated for up to 4.5 days for the 46mm model and up to 3 days for the 42mm model. Health Glance, which combines an X-TAP sensor, uses continuous wrist measurement together with fingertip measurement. The fingertip measurement was described as being designed to improve accuracy because of the density of blood vessels.
Under the 531 Plan, which includes the Dongguan research base, the measurement algorithms are shared with previous models. A policy was presented to divide the research bases among 3 sites and commercialize the functions over 3 years. Verification and proposals for Japan are being advanced with domestic medical institutions in mind. In Japan, iOS and Android integration will be strengthened, and eSIM support is planned for SoftBank, KDDI and Rakuten Mobile.
Domestic prices are approximately ¥54,780 for GT 7 Pro, around ¥44,880 for GT 7, and around ¥71,280 for WATCH 6. The GT 7 series launches on 29 October and WATCH 6 on 5 November. HONMA collaboration models and others were also announced at the same time. The company positions the expansion of mid- and high-priced products, excluding the Band series, as an opportunity to expand its foothold in the Japanese market.
