Creema and Hokuryu Town are collaborating to solicit original works made using Ezo deer leather and deer oil. 28 items are scheduled to be unveiled for the first time at Hokuryu Town Sunflower Town Craft Marche Vol. 2.
Handmade marketplace Creema worked with Hokuryu Town, Hokkaido, to hold the Hokuryu Town Creator Collaboration Contest, soliciting original works made using Ezo deer leather and deer oil. As a result, 28 works were created and will be unveiled for the first time at the town's Craft Marche, to be held on 17 and 18 October 2026.
Hokuryu Town has been known as a sunflower town since the Heisei era, and last year it held its first Craft Marche jointly with Creema. Approximately 1,300 people attended over the 2 days, and efforts to create activity in the town are continuing. This collaboration is positioned as an initiative to use Ezo deer resources in local manufacturing.
The contest solicited works made using Ezo deer leather and deer oil, resulting in a diverse range of items, including sacoche bags, wall lights, leatherworking knives, brooches, earrings and smartphone cases. All the works are one-of-a-kind items, with designs that make use of the distinctive texture of each material.
After their first unveiling, the works are scheduled to remain on display in Hokuryu Town, with commercialization and sales planned based on feedback from the creators and visitors. The event will be held free of charge for 2 days at the venue, Hokuryu Town Community Center.
