ZEISS began the phased rollout of its full-scale promotion of the METROTOM 800 320 kV in Japan on 1 September. The system is said to reduce scan times by up to 75% with its 320 kV X-ray source.
ZEISS has launched a full-scale promotion of the METROTOM 800 320 kV in Japan, reportedly targeting greater efficiency in the measurement of medical technology and high-density components. The new CT system speeds the measurement of complex parts made from high-density materials, with expected cost reductions in quality-control operations.
The combination of a 320 kV, 500 W X-ray source and a minimum focal spot size of 7 μm is said to reduce scan times by up to 75% compared with other METROTOM systems. The system can operate continuously without requiring cooldown, with improved productivity and reduced downtime highlighted as key benefits.
The system is designed to inspect components up to 470 mm in height, 500 mm in diameter and 50 kg in weight. Its flexibility is being promoted for a broad range of applications, including complex electronic assemblies, medical implants and additively manufactured metal parts.
ZEISS plans to exhibit the system at JASIS 2026, to be held at Makuhari Messe from 2 to 4 September, where it will showcase the METROTOM 800 320 kV's applications and solutions. A demonstration is also planned for January 2027 at the Quality Excellence Center Osaka.
The material also directs readers to the METROTOM 800 320 kV product page and includes an overview of the ZEISS Group's businesses and divisions, providing a comprehensive introduction.
