Honda has announced “Honda SENSING RIDE,” an advanced safety assistance system for motorcycles, at EICMA 2026, currently being held in Milan, Italy. The CRF1150L Africa Twin Adventure Sports will be the first model equipped with the system, and Honda says it will subsequently roll out the system to other models.
Honda SENSING RIDE is based on technologies developed for the SENSING system for automobiles, with motorcycle-specific functions added to its design. Millimetre-wave radar is installed at the front and rear to accurately detect surrounding conditions, while the system makes an integrated assessment of the rider’s and motorcycle’s status to provide notifications, warnings and operational assistance.
As part of efforts to pursue greater comfort and safety for motorcycle riders, the system is designed to reduce stress and enable smooth gear changes when combined with DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission).
The system includes multiple dedicated functions, such as ACC with Stop & Go, which maintains the distance from the vehicle ahead; Group Ride Assist, which supports group motorcycle riding; and Blind Spot Information, which alerts the rider to vehicles in blind spots.
Honda aims to halve the number of traffic fatalities worldwide involving motorcycles and automobiles by 2030 and achieve zero fatalities by 2050. SENSING RIDE is part of these efforts.
