At a business exchange event commemorating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Singapore, ANA and Singapore Airlines highlighted the convenience of a joint service that allows travelers to use different airlines for the outbound and return journeys.
The Singapore Tourism Board, Singapore Airlines and ANA explained measures to support MICE promotion, encouraging Japanese companies to expand into Singapore, and the flexibility of business travel flights offered through the two airlines' JV at an event held at the Embassy of Singapore in Tokyo. Japanese companies were introduced to opportunities to use local bases and expand across Southeast Asia, while EDB and the Singapore Tourism Board cited the use of events in Sentosa, approximately 460-plus hotels and approximately 74,000 rooms as specific examples of MICE implementation.
Titled “Japan-Singapore Business Gateway Night,” the event also introduced Singapore FinTech Festival 2026 and Singapore Maritime Week 2027 as future business travel opportunities. The Singapore Tourism Board explained that it would expand the scope of its MICE support to include introductions to local partners and venues, as well as proposals for experiential programs.
◆Examples of using different airlines for the outbound and return journeys◆ Within the explanation of the JV, an itinerary combining ANA flight NH841 for the outbound journey and Singapore Airlines flight SQ634 for the return journey was given as an example, highlighting the ability to combine outbound and return flights, primarily serving Haneda. For business trips departing from Kansai, an option was also introduced involving departure from Kansai International Airport on Singapore Airlines and a return flight to Haneda on ANA.
ANA and SIA also explained their policy of proposing corporate programs, flexible fares, and benefits such as excess baggage fee waivers and lounge passes tailored to each company. As part of enhancements to inflight services, they introduced new menu items and additional tableware and beverages, as well as plans to expand the travel experience, with the full details scheduled to be announced in November.
Future developments presented included plans to introduce inflight Wi-Fi using SpaceX satellite communications and roll it out on long-haul A380 and A350 aircraft, with completion targeted by the end of 2029.
