Around mid-afternoon trading on the TSE Prime Market on the 9th, the Nikkei Stock Average was trading in the ¥68,900 range, down approximately ¥70 from the previous day. In the US market, buying was reportedly seen in E-mini Nasdaq 100 futures and Nikkei futures, and the activity of overseas short-term investors is believed to have helped the Nikkei resist further declines. Among individual stocks, TDK, Kioxia and Murata Manufacturing stood out for their declines, while Terumo, Rohm and Fujikura also fell. Tokyo Electron, Lasertec and SCREEN Holdings, meanwhile, held at high levels and helped support the market.
Recruit, Konami Group and BayCurrent Consulting were cited as stocks attracting expectations of gains. Overall, market commentary indicated that dip-buying was focused mainly on AI and semiconductor-related stocks.
