The Monogatari Corporation announced that it will expand the areas covered by its My Area System, which assigns employees to their preferred areas, from the previous 8 areas to 10 areas. The expansion will apply to employees joining the company from 1 October 2026. The company is subdividing areas for married employees and caregivers.
The expansion of the system was decided against the backdrop of an increase in the number of stores accompanying business growth since its introduction in 2023, with the aim of broadening employees' choice of work locations across Japan. The new 10-area structure will apply to employees joining the company from 1 October 2026, while existing employees will be accommodated in stages.
Under the new divisions, the Kanto area will be split into the Tokyo metropolitan area and three surrounding prefectures, and Northern Kanto, while the Chubu area will be split into Chubu and Hokuriku. The number of areas will thereby increase from 8 to 10.
The system covers employees who are married or have caregiving responsibilities, allowing them to choose, at their discretion, an assignment within their preferred region. There are no age restrictions, no reduction in compensation and no time limit.
In this expansion, approximately 80% of the approximately 400 eligible employees as of the end of September 2026 had already been assigned to their preferred areas. The company plans to expand eligibility in stages.
