Guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela have announced their new album OurHome, choosing Japan as the base for its production. Recording took place at Tokyo’s NK Studio in January 2026, and the Grammy-winning duo incorporated new elements into the work through their life in Japan and the involvement of local guests.
During their stay in Japan, they lived in a small hotel near Shinjuku, sharing coffee in the mornings, working at the studio during the day and continuing late into the night. Following the positive reception to their Japan performances last year, they became more inclined to choose Japan as the location for their production. The recording and production process is said to reflect the cultural stimulation they experienced in Japan.
The album’s title, OurHome, was inspired by the image of a neon sign seen on an apartment building in Melbourne. The concept treats inner peace as “our home,” with the aim of expressing a place of refuge within the mind through music while avoiding outside intervention.
The advance lead track “Monster” arose from the idea of a collaboration with Naoki Urasawa’s manga MONSTER. The duo has also expressed interest in producing a music video for the manga, raising expectations for future collaborative projects. Japan performances are scheduled for January 2027 in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya, as part of a Japan tour.
