Pet Fair Asia 2025, one of Asia’s largest pet-product trade shows, was held for 5 days at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Characterized by high-tech products and premium offerings, the event showed that innovation in the pet industry is advancing faster than expected.
The 28th Pet Fair Asia opened in Shanghai on a scale of 320,000 square meters of exhibition space and more than 2,600 exhibitors, with the shift toward high-tech and premium products reported as a defining feature of the event. Exhibitors and visitors were said to have sensed new vitality in pet-related consumption.
More than 2,000 new products were unveiled on the first day alone. Pet food booths were particularly numerous, including products containing soft-shell turtle, reishi mushrooms and Norwegian salmon oil.
This year’s event featured a themed area dedicated to “A Better Life for People and Pets,” showcasing premium pet food from around the world and smart home appliances for pet care. Experience booths for grooming, pet cakes and photography were also provided.
AI-assisted pet care also emerged as a trend. Products included smart feeders with cat facial recognition, smart litter boxes that record the number of bowel movements, and devices equipped with functions for detecting abnormal urine pH levels and identifying parasite eggs, supporting pet health management. The imported products area featured pavilions from multiple countries, bringing new perspectives to the domestic market.
