Dental Town conducted a nationwide survey on home-visit dental care. Approximately 85% of respondents said they did not know about home-visit dental care, while approximately 80% said they would like to use or recommend it in the future.
Dental Town surveyed awareness of home-visit dental care, willingness to use it, concerns about using it and the services people want. The survey was conducted from 10 February to 30 March 2026 among patients nationwide looking for dental clinics, with 516 valid responses. The questionnaire was administered to users seeking dental clinics, and covered all regions of Japan.
As a key finding, approximately 85% of respondents said they did not know about or were not familiar with home-visit dental care. Awareness of the specific groups eligible to use the service and the treatments provided appears to be limited, highlighting the need to raise awareness.
Only 3.5% of respondents knew that the service area for home-visit dental care is subject to a rule limiting coverage to within a 16 km radius of the dental clinic. The findings suggest that providing specific information is needed to encourage people to consider using the service.
In response to whether anyone close to them had difficulty attending a dental clinic, approximately 9 in 10 respondents said “no.” In light of potential future needs, the findings indicate that it is important to raise awareness of available options through the provision of information. Approximately 80% of respondents said they would like to use or recommend home-visit dental care in the future.
