The Voice AR Consortium fully launched in July this year. The lead companies are Sony Marketing, Shobunsha Holdings,Inc. and NEC, and the consortium aims to revitalise local communities and create new tourism experiences. A total of 9 organisations, including JTB and NTT West, are participating.
Voice AR services such as Locatone and SARF are gaining traction in Japan, and Locatone has supported more than 200 projects. In Nabari City, a limited-time project was carried out in cooperation with local company Mapple, using a system that plays music when visitors reach designated spots.
Efforts to reduce the concentration of tourists in particular destinations include building infrastructure that expands multilingual services and travel experiences between regions for travellers, including international visitors to Japan. Through the consortium, the participants plan to expand Voice AR nationwide and develop infrastructure for communicating the appeal of local communities.
