On 11 June 2026, Lexus launched the new eighth-generation ES in Japan. The model has been redefined as a sedan that prioritizes occupant space while raising its overall height compared with the previous model, and adopts the new GA-K platform for HEV and BEV variants under the same model name. Its design is characterized by an emphasis on quietness and ride comfort in both BEV and HEV versions.
Lexus has unveiled the new eighth-generation ES, with its overall length increased to 5,140 mm, width to 1,920 mm and wheelbase to 2,950 mm, representing increases in some dimensions over the previous model. Overall height is 1,555 mm for the HEV ES350h and 1,560 mm for the BEV ES350e/ES500e, making them 110–115 mm taller than the previous model. The design adopts proportions that are relatively tall for a sedan while balancing a low center of gravity with an elegant form.
The new ES prioritizes packaging that maximizes occupant space, then pursues “the proportions that make a sedan look its most beautiful.” The design takes into account the requirements of the BEV, which carries its battery beneath the floor, while also enhancing rear-seat comfort. The rear seats can be equipped with reclining functions, ottomans, seat heating and ventilation, and a refresh function, offered as part of the rear comfort package.
