八十二長野銀行 (Nagano City) announced on the 8th that a staff member's email account had been accessed without authorization by a third party after the staff member opened a suspicious external email. The email addresses of 35 people may have been leaked, but no damage from misuse has been confirmed to date.
The bank immediately blocked access to the account, commissioned an external specialist to investigate and notified the police. It said it would disclose any relevant information going forward, but that no specific instances of damage had been confirmed at the time of the announcement.
The bank is based in Nagano Prefecture and was established this year following its merger with Nagano Bank. It said it would continue warning staff about suspicious direct messages and emails containing links, and would strengthen employee training.
