Pre-orders begin at 9:00 p.m. Japan time on Friday, 16 October. The foldable iPhone Duo features inner and outer displays and a range of new functions, including hands-free calling and AI features.
Apple announced the start date for iPhone Duo pre-orders and provided an overview of the launch event and purchase options. Particular emphasis was placed on purchase support online and in stores, trade-ins, and protection plans such as AppleCare+.
iPhone Duo’s foldable design makes it one of the thinnest devices ever when unfolded, and the inner display is described as approximately 50% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max display. When closed, the external display measures 5.4 inches.
A new FaceTime camera is located beneath the inner display, enabling hands-free calls even when the device is unfolded. Enhancements to Apple Intelligence using Siri AI strengthen personalised support and contextual understanding.
In terms of specifications, the device highlights a 48MP Fusion main camera, 2x optical telephoto capability and ultra-wide macro photography, along with new user experiences such as Split View multitasking and automatic screen rotation and adaptive display.
In addition to the pre-order date, the purchase options described include Apple Trade In, with trade-in values ranging from ¥20,000 to ¥172,000, and a 3-month free trial of Apple One.
