Ryohin Keikaku launched sales of its first clothing reuse products in Okinawa at MUJI Naha Main Place in Naha. The range primarily comprises clothing made from collected garments that have been washed and re-dyed, with T-shirts priced from ¥990.
Ryohin Keikaku, which operates MUJI, began selling reused clothing products on the 18th at MUJI Naha Main Place in Omoromachi, Naha. The initiative is the first of its kind in Okinawa Prefecture, with plans to expand to other stores in the prefecture.
Re-dyed clothing is priced at ¥990 for T-shirts and ¥1,990 for jackets and trousers. The range also includes rewashed clothing and Tsunagaru clothing. The process of washing and inspecting collected garments before re-dyeing and reusing them has already been implemented elsewhere in Japan.
The products are currently sold at 62 stores nationwide, using multiple reuse methods, including re-dyeing, rewashing and disassembly for remanufacturing. In Okinawa Prefecture, sales are expected to expand to other stores.
A representative of MUJI's apparel division commented, "We are also selling some familiar products as reused items. We hope customers will enjoy shopping as if they were on a treasure hunt."
