Lily Pad, a new Toy Story 5 character, has appeared at a popular attraction at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida. A former Imagineer who worked on park development for many years has questioned the consistency of the area's setting.
At Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, new show elements were added to Alien Swirling Saucers from 25 September, introducing Lily Pad, a new character. Lily Pad is a frog-themed smart tablet that serves as a DJ, playing songs from the film Toy Story 5 and debuting new music.
Visitors can enjoy Lily Pad's music without riding the attraction, and other entertainment, including puzzles, is also planned. The new show elements are intended to expand the on-site visitor experience and have been reported as an addition to the attraction's programming.
However, Jim Shull, a former Imagineer who worked at Disney for 33 years, pointed out inconsistencies. The setting of Toy Story Land presents a world in which toys come to life in the backyard of Andy's house, but Lily Pad is Bonnie's toy. Because the characters belong to different generations, he noted that the setting would have to be the backyard of a different house.
Shull also questioned the publicly disclosed size of Lily Pad, saying that the character would have to be larger to fit the original setting. Attention is focused on how the addition of the new character and music will affect the consistency of the area's fictional world.
