A survey of 415 working single women aged 20–39 on the fatigue and guilt associated with cooking on busy nights found that many wanted a quick way to add vegetables, prompting a proposal for the new product “お好みーる.” The online survey was conducted from 24 to 26 June 2026.
Many women feel tired after preparing dinner at the end of the workday, and the survey found that, for most, the “motivation” remaining when they got home was in the 30% range or lower. Among women in their 30s, those with 0–10% remaining accounted for approximately 26.3%, suggesting that everyday fatigue was a contributing factor.
On nights when they avoided cooking and relied on eating out or prepared foods, approximately half felt guilty. The main reasons were higher food expenses (72.5%) and an unbalanced diet (49.0%).
Preparing dinner and cleaning up afterward was the greatest burden, cited among the top 3 by 70.4% of respondents. A high proportion also said they wished they could have made a little more effort.
The survey showed that being able to eat vegetables and have a hot meal ranked among the leading conditions for feeling that they had taken care of themselves, while there was strong demand for meals that could be prepared within 10 minutes. Showa Sangyo is proposing “お好みーる,” a new take on a flour-based dish, to meet these needs.
The product features include preparation in under 10 minutes using 3 steps, a satisfying amount of vegetables, and practical convenience that reduces the work involved. It comes in an 80g package, has a suggested retail price of ¥140, and will be distributed nationwide.
