Motosu City is soliciting corporate donations under the Local Revitalization Support Tax Scheme (corporate hometown tax donations). The program overview and projects eligible for support through donations are described.
Motosu City has announced an initiative to solicit corporate donations under the Local Revitalization Support Tax Scheme (corporate hometown tax donations). The program is intended to promote funding for regional revitalization projects and advance the city’s comprehensive strategy through donations.
Under the program, donations to initiatives by local governments certified by the national government qualify for tax credits against corporate taxes and other taxes. Combined with the tax-deductible expense treatment for ordinary donations, this can provide tax relief of up to 90% of the donation amount.
Eligible donations are ¥100,000 or more per contribution. The recipient uses the donations to promote initiatives listed in the third phase of the Motosu City Digital Garden City Initiative Comprehensive Strategy. Special measures are provided for corporate inhabitant tax, corporate income tax and corporate enterprise tax, depending on the type of donation.
Projects seeking donations include creating stable employment, attracting related populations and encouraging migration and permanent settlement, supporting child-rearing households, ensuring safety and security in daily life, and creating an attractive hometown. Two donation application methods are provided: submitting an application form or applying through the donation website.
