OTTOCAST has launched CarPlay Clip, a new adapter that allows vehicles equipped with wired CarPlay to use CarPlay wirelessly without being physically connected to a smartphone. It is compatible with vehicles equipped with wired CarPlay from 2016 onward and with iPhones running iOS 10 or later. To install it, insert the main unit into an air-conditioning vent, turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on the iPhone, and complete the initial setup. After the initial pairing, the device automatically reconnects each time it is used. The price is ¥9,999 before tax.
The product's key feature is its built-in circular compact display, which is said to be the world's first for a wireless CarPlay adapter. The display can be customized through the dedicated OttoPilot app to show the time, the album cover of the currently playing track, or a selected photo.
