An updated GR86 model has been announced. Detailed refinements include the addition of the new Solid Gray color, improved interior quality, updates to advanced safety features, and enhanced design appeal. An automatic-transmission version has also been newly added to the GR86 Cup Car Basic.
On 6 August, GR announced an updated GR86 model. Detailed refinements have been made throughout the car, including sharper driving performance, improved interior quality, updates to advanced safety features, and enhanced design appeal. A notable addition is an automatic-transmission version of the GR86 Cup Car Basic, the competition car for the one-make racing series.
The exterior gains a new Solid Gray color. The color was previously offered as a limited-time option on the first-generation TOYOTA 86 and was well received. The lineup also includes Spark Red, black-based colors, and white-based colors.
Interior quality has been improved, particularly on the top-grade RZ. Improved switch grip and the use of a cast black finish enhance the sense of visual refinement, while the black-and-red interior color scheme has evolved into a more vivid accent.
For driving performance, throttle control has been revised to provide more linear acceleration buildup, making it easier to modulate the accelerator precisely on wet roads and snow-covered roads. Revised electric power steering control and the low center-of-gravity design improve cornering stability, while the shift interlock has been adjusted on manual-transmission models to smooth the vehicle’s behavior during downshifts.
