MTI will launch WERIMO, a corporate weather alert service, on 19 October. The service allows users to check weather information, including rain, lightning and heatstroke risks, for each registered location and sends alerts when hazards approach. It will initially be introduced at golf courses.
WERIMO consolidates and displays weather information around registered locations on a map, and automatically sends notifications through a warning sound on a PC or push notifications to smartphones when, for example, a thundercloud approaches. The system enables the PC in the management room and staff smartphones on the course to share the same information, helping staff make faster decisions about suspending play and directing evacuations. Key features include a comprehensive weather map, a live lightning map, alert notifications, live cameras, and information sharing between PCs and smartphones.
The service is scheduled to expand into industries beyond golf courses. MTI will consider applying it to worksites with strong demand by customising the information displayed and the alert conditions.
