Nisshin Seifun Welna is adding production lines at a US subsidiary's plant to manufacture tempura batter mix and other products, increasing production capacity. The investment will total approximately ¥800 million, with operations expected to begin in October 2027.
Nisshin Seifun Welna announced that it will add production lines at the plant of its US subsidiary, Medallion Foods. The expansion will increase production capacity for fried-food coating mixes, mainly tempura batter mix, to meet growing demand from Japanese restaurants.
The new lines will involve an investment of approximately ¥800 million. The plant is Medallion Foods' facility in Washington State, and operations are scheduled to begin in October 2027.
The new lines will produce not only tempura batter mix but also coating mixes for shrimp fritters and fried chicken, as well as noodles. In addition to Japanese restaurants, the company will pursue new customers among seafood and meat processors and food-service operators.
Nisshin Seifun Welna said it will consider further increases in production capacity and the construction of new plants in line with demand.
