OpenAI and Google Cloud are partnering to launch frontier models and Codex on Model Garden. General availability is scheduled for within the next few weeks, and purchases can be made through Google Cloud Marketplace.
OpenAI announced on 21 October that it was partnering with Google Cloud to bring OpenAI's frontier models and its agentic development tool Codex to Model Garden. Companies will be able to use them directly on Google Cloud, with purchases made through Google Cloud Marketplace.
Companies that have committed to spending on Google Cloud will be able to apply their purchases toward their GCP usage commitments. General availability is scheduled to begin within the next few weeks, and a private preview has begun for select companies.
The OpenAI models listed as eligible include GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Luna. Prompts and outputs will be retained within specified data boundaries and will not be used to train foundation models. A zero-retention option is also expected to become available soon.
OpenAI's models are also expected to become available through the agents of Google Antigravity and Gemini. Google Cloud says it aims to be a hyperscale cloud offering more than 200 models, as well as 3 major closed-source LLMs, on a single platform.
