PHARMA FOODS announced that it will acquire Marine Pro Foods, which produces processed seafood products for hospitals and nursing-care facilities, for approximately ¥5 billion. The acquisition is scheduled to involve the purchase of all shares in the company through a Daiwa PI Partners fund.
On the 6th, PHARMA FOODS announced that it had agreed to acquire all shares of Marine Pro Foods. The acquisition price is approximately ¥5 billion, and the agreement is expected to be signed on the same date. The shares are scheduled to be acquired on the 30th through a Daiwa PI Partners fund, making this the largest acquisition in the company's history.
Marine Pro Foods plans and sells processed seafood and soybean products for hospitals, nursing-care facilities and school-lunch providers. It does not operate its own factories, instead using the facilities of partner companies. Revenue for the fiscal year ending March 2026 is reported at ¥9.4 billion.
PHARMA FOODS has sold functional materials to food manufacturers, including Pharma GABA, which is expected to help reduce stress and improve sleep. Through the acquisition, the company aims to add a business expected to benefit from growing demand from hospitals and nursing-care facilities and expand earnings.
Going forward, the company plans to develop products such as kamaboko and chikuwa containing functional materials, while also considering the development of sales channels for general consumers. Its current sales are centered on the domestic market, but it also plans to consider overseas expansion.
