Kakaku.com, which operates the restaurant information website Tabelog, announced that it will dissolve its capital alliance with KDDI. However, the companies will continue their business alliance, including the joint development of new services.
Kakaku.com formally announced that it will dissolve its capital alliance with KDDI. In connection with this, it will discontinue advance notification regarding important matters, including the appointment of directors from KDDI and organizational restructuring.
However, the companies have indicated that they will continue joint development and other initiatives under their business alliance, maintaining their cooperative relationship despite dissolving their capital relationship.
As background, European investment fund EQT announced the acquisition of Kakaku.com and disclosed a policy of supporting the acquisition. KDDI decided in May this year to sell all of its Kakaku.com shares.
The possibility of an acquisition proposal from the LINE Yahoo consortium for Kakaku.com has also been widely discussed, and attention is focused on future developments. The investment ratio is reportedly unchanged at the time the capital relationship is dissolved.
