Tokyu Community announced plans to make the electricity used at 105 locations, including its head office and branches, effectively 100% renewable in fiscal 2026. Approximately 3.7 million kWh of annual consumption will be covered by environmental value derived from renewable energy.
Tokyu Community announced an initiative to make the electricity used at a total of 105 locations, including its head office, branches, sales offices, and management offices for public housing, effectively 100% renewable by fiscal 2026. The electricity will be covered using environmental value certificates from renewable energy power plants owned and operated by Tokyu Land, with annual electricity consumption estimated at approximately 3.7 million kWh.
For this initiative, Riene acted as intermediary and acquired tracked FIT non-fossil certificates. Allocating the certificates to electricity used in fiscal 2026 is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 846 tonnes. The calculation uses the national average emissions factor by electricity supplier, of 423 grams per kWh.
After electricity consumption at all covered locations in fiscal 2026 has been confirmed, the company plans to acquire additional certificates for any shortfall in May 2027 and expects to complete the transition to effectively 100% renewable electricity for fiscal 2027 as well. Under its long-term vision, GROUP VISION 2030, the Tokyu Land Group is promoting environmental management and DX and is using environmental value derived from its power plants.
Tokyu Land Holdings switched the electricity used at its offices and owned facilities to 100% renewable energy in December 2022, while Riene was registered as a retail electricity supplier in December 2022. Through this initiative, the Tokyu Group will strengthen its efforts to help realise a decarbonised society.
