As the Japanese government imposes provisional tariffs for four months on hot-dip galvanized steel strip and sheet made in South Korea, POSCO has submitted a written statement to the Ministry of Finance arguing that the tariff rates are excessive.
The Japanese government has imposed provisional anti-dumping tariffs for four months on hot-dip galvanized steel strip and sheet made in South Korea and China, citing dumping. The tariffs apply from the 8th through 7 December, at 29.2% for POSCO and up to 38% for KG Steel and other South Korean companies.
In response, POSCO, South Korea's largest steelmaker, has submitted a written statement to the Japanese government arguing that the tariff rates are excessively high. The statement was reportedly submitted with an explanation of the facts and grounds based on the World Trade Organization's Anti-Dumping Agreement.
A POSCO official said the company expects the submission of the statement to lead to an adjustment in the margin rate.
