Share-price performance versus the end of 2025 for newly added TOPIX constituents has been released. QD Laser ranks first, with AI-related stocks prominent among the top performers. A total of 35 stocks were added under the new criteria, significantly reshaping the index composition.
Japan Exchange Group (JPX) has overhauled the TOPIX constituents by applying new criteria that place greater emphasis on free-float market capitalization and trading volume. A total of 35 new constituents were added, while the number of constituents fell by approximately 40% from the end of September.
An analysis of the share-price performance of the newly added constituents versus the end of 2025 found that AI- and semiconductor-related stocks accounted for many of the top performers. QD Laser ranks first.
The new inclusion criteria take both market capitalization and trading volume into account, resulting in a substantial change in TOPIX’s composition.
This development is expected to provide a basis for monitoring the performance of stocks in the AI and semiconductor sectors, which have attracted significant market interest, alongside TOPIX’s performance.
