JR West launched the new “JR West Registered Railway Cultural Assets” website on 14 October. The site aims to convey railway history and culture while encouraging visits to the locations.
The site covers a total of 135 items in JR West’s operating area: 111 registered railway cultural assets, 10 railway monuments and 14 quasi-railway monuments. Their historical features are presented with photographs.
Some of the listed facilities are not normally open to the public, and visits or photography may not be permitted. JR West aims to convey their appeal to people beyond railway enthusiasts and create opportunities to visit areas along its lines.
