Tokyo stocks fell for the second straight session at the midday close. After selling ran its course, semiconductor-related stocks were bought, at one point narrowing the market's decline.
The Nikkei Average fell ¥195 from the previous day to 63,095.11 at the midday close, marking a second straight session of declines. Selling led the morning session, but buying emerged in some semiconductor-related stocks, gradually narrowing the market's overall decline.
Although selling had run its course, the market did not turn broadly lower, and individual stocks continued to be reassessed. At one point, some semiconductor-sector stocks appeared to have attracted buying.
