ASKUL released its consolidated results for June–August 2026, reporting a net loss. Revenue from its ASKUL business declined from the same period a year earlier, affected by the exceptionally hot summer and a cyberattack.
ASKUL announced its consolidated results for June–August 2026, reporting a net loss of ¥508 million. The company had been profitable in the same period a year earlier, but cited slower growth in seasonal products such as beverages in its business-to-business ASKUL online retail operation as a factor.
Revenue fell 8% from the year-earlier period to ¥112.3 billion, while operating loss was ¥418 million. Revenue from the ASKUL business fell 12% to ¥79.8 billion, also affected by the delayed recovery in order volumes. LOHACO revenue fell 12% to ¥8.8 billion.
The company also unveiled a new target of increasing the share of revenue from original products from approximately 40% currently to 50% by the fiscal year ending May 2027, by strengthening its product development capabilities. It will expand its product lineup for face-to-face service industries, including medical and nursing care, food service and retail. ASKUL left its previous full-year forecast for the fiscal year ending May 2027 unchanged, projecting revenue of ¥490 billion, up 22% from the previous fiscal year, and net income of ¥4 billion.
Revenue from online retail for individual customers, including LOHACO, declined partly because the rice stockpiling sales recorded in the same period a year earlier did not recur.
