DeNA disclosed that its project to demonstrate a program in Malaysia for preventing the progression of lifestyle-related diseases had been selected for a Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry subsidy program, and that it plans to apply AI to local healthcare data to predict high-risk individuals and proceed with the demonstration project.
DeNA Co., Ltd. (DeNA) announced that its demonstration project for a preventive healthcare model in Malaysia had been selected for a Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry subsidy program. The project targets Malaysia, where approximately 16% of adults are considered to have diabetes, and aims to contain healthcare costs and reduce companies' healthcare benefit burdens.
The demonstration project will use the data health solution expertise and technology developed by DeNA's group companies to introduce locally a program with a track record in Japan for preventing the progression of lifestyle-related diseases. AI will be applied to local healthcare-related data to predict future high-risk individuals and assess the program's effectiveness and commercial viability.
The project was selected under the FY2025 supplementary budget Global South Future-Oriented Co-Creation and Other Projects Subsidy Program (Small-Scale Demonstration and Feasibility Study Project), a scheme that supports business development studies and demonstration projects conducted jointly with overseas companies. The results are reportedly to have been announced in June.
DeNA has a track record of providing data health solutions to local governments and health insurance societies, and this initiative is expected to extend those activities into Malaysia.
