STIHL, the world's No. 1 chainsaw manufacturer, announced the new ALLPRO battery platform and the MSA 260 C-O cordless chainsaw to mark its 100th anniversary. It also disclosed plans to change its Japanese brand name to Shutiiru.
STIHL marked its 100th anniversary by announcing the new ALLPRO battery platform for professional users and the compatible MSA 260 C-O cordless chainsaw at an event in Tokyo. Hatakeyama Kensuke (畠山健介) also gave a chainsaw demonstration at the venue, and the company indicated that it plans to continue expanding its products across a broad range of worksites.
ALLPRO supports output of up to 4 kW and is designed for a long service life, with up to 3,000 charge and discharge cycles. It also incorporates features for demanding environments, including shorter charging times, IPX5 waterproofing, and operation in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 50°C. Three models, AP100P, AP200P and AP300P, are available with different capacities, and their prices differ regardless of whether tax is included.
The MSA 260 C-O is a new cordless chainsaw compatible with the AP platform, designed to balance the power and maneuverability required for logging operations. It also features a filter protection mechanism and ease of maintenance. The retail price is ¥132,000 including tax.
The CEO of the Japanese subsidiary stated that the brand name would be changed to Shutiiru, closer to the German pronunciation. The company plans to strengthen its presence in forestry, landscaping, construction and other worksites, and some see the use of ALLPRO as a potential symbol of its battery strategy.
A demonstration by Hatakeyama Kensuke (畠山健介) suggested the potential for applying a quiet battery-powered rotor in the field. The company aims to expand the market through the brand-name change and new battery strategy as it marks its 100th anniversary.
