Yamaichi Electronics plunged. Despite raising its earnings forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027, its share price fell sharply as investors viewed the available positive catalysts as exhausted.
Yamaichi Electronics, a major manufacturer of sockets for semiconductor testing, suffered its first sharp drop in six sessions, with its share price at ¥8,770 as of 08/06, down approximately 14.5% from the previous day. First-quarter ordinary profit was ¥6.161 billion, up 63.1% year on year, marking a record quarterly profit.
The ordinary profit forecast for the first half was raised from ¥7.5 billion to ¥9.3 billion, up 43.2% year on year, while the full-year forecast was increased from ¥12.8 billion to ¥14.9 billion, up 22.9% from the previous fiscal year. In line with the revisions, the dividend plan was increased to ¥65 interim, ¥103 year-end, and ¥168 annually.
The upward earnings revision had a limited impact on the share price as the perception that the available catalysts were exhausted gained ground, while retail investor activity slowed. The company is also strengthening its semiconductor-related business portfolio.
