The Nikkei rose sharply in Japan's domestic stock market on 30 September, with AI and semiconductor stocks bought. A company that announced new shareholder benefits offering points for holdings of 700 shares or more also attracted attention.
The Nikkei Stock Average ended 30 September sharply higher, closing ¥1,272.45 above the previous day at ¥66,753.72. Top contributors included SoftBank Group, Fast Retailing, Tokyo Electron and Advantest, which helped push the market higher.
Trading volume on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market was 2.762 billion shares, while trading value was ¥9.121230 trillion, both up from the previous day. By sector, nonferrous metals, banks and chemicals rose, while mining, fisheries and agriculture, and warehousing and harbor transportation-related stocks fell.
Among individual stocks, the biggest gainers among Nikkei constituents included Take and Give Needs, Asahi Organic Chemicals and SUMCO, all of which posted substantial gains. The biggest decliners were Advance Create, I-ne and Net Protections Holdings.
One point of interest was a company's introduction of shareholder benefits, under which shareholders holding 700 shares or more would receive points. A segment attracted attention following the announcement of the shareholder return policy, independently of the broader market's price movements.
