ソラコム is supporting communications for the “IBUKI GPS” location service carried by participants in the Hasetsune Cup. The challenging race has approximately 2,000 participants, who must complete 71.5 km within 24 hours, and the support aims to improve communications stability.
ソラコム announced that it will support communications for the “IBUKI GPS” location service carried by participants in the 34th Japan Mountain Endurance Race, the Hasetsune Cup, to be held on 11 and 12 October in the Okutama mountain area of Tokyo. Approximately 2,000 people are expected to participate, aiming to complete 71.5 km within 24 hours.
IBUKI GPS is a GPS device service provided by OND. It supports GPS, GLONASS and Michibiki, and transmits location data to the cloud via LTE-M communications. The system is designed to continue acquiring location data even in areas such as mountainous regions where radio signals are difficult to receive, and to transmit the data when the device moves to a location with connectivity.
IBUKI GPS has been designated as mandatory equipment for the race. Tracking all participants is expected to improve safety. The official event page publishes the location data of all participants, allowing spectators and family members to follow the race in near real time.
