Nissan will expand its autonomous mobility service pilot in Kobe's Nada Gogo District, extending the service area and introducing a new on-demand reservation function. The initiative aims to support tourist mobility and revitalize the local community.
The FY2026 pilot will run from 8 to 18 December 2026 on weekdays and use Serena-based autonomous vehicles. Local operations will include smartphone-based reservation and vehicle dispatch functions.
The project will monitor multiple regions from the Remote Operations Center in Yokohama and validate centralized management. In preparation for future commercial operations, it will assess the effectiveness of monitoring multiple regions from a single location.
Nissan plans to launch a paid service in 2027 and fully commercialize the service in the Nada Gogo area by 2030. The project will be conducted under the framework of projects related to the Japanese government's Digital Agency and subsidy programs run by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
