South Korean physical AI company ギャラクシーコーポレーション has announced plans to develop robot performances in Japan next year. The company has also expressed its intention to pursue collaborations with Japan-origin characters.
South Korean company ギャラクシーコーポレーション, which develops “physical AI” that enables robots to move autonomously, said in an interview with Sankei Shimbun that it would launch activities featuring robot performances in the Japanese market next year, signaling its entry into Japan. Against a backdrop of strong interest in the cultures of both Japan and South Korea, the company said it aims to expand globally by establishing a base in Japan and collaborating with well-known Japanese characters.
In August, the company opened Galaxy Robot Park, a theme park in Seoul’s Gangdong District, offering performances by humanoid robots that have learned idol choreography and dance to K-pop songs. The park features approximately 20 types of robots, with capabilities including interactive operation with visitors, musical performances and portrait drawing. Approximately 28,000 people visited during the roughly two months through October.
CEO Choi Yong-ho (崔龍湖) plans to hold a press conference in Japan at the end of the year and said the name of the Japanese partner company had not been disclosed. The company envisions expanding from Japan to the rest of the world through collaborations with Japanese characters. As part of its business using cloud and AI technologies alongside intellectual property in the entertainment sector, the company is also known for its ties to BIGBANG.
