Kyocera has completed a new semiconductor-related plant it was building in Isahaya, Nagasaki Prefecture. Investment through fiscal 2028 is expected to total ¥68 billion, as part of a plan to expand the region’s semiconductor industry.
The new plant will produce ceramic components and semiconductor packages for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Kyocera says it is the company’s first new plant in Japan in about 20 years.
Operations have begun with several dozen employees, primarily through internal transfers, and production equipment is expected to be installed progressively. Nagasaki Prefecture has set a policy target of ¥1 trillion in manufactured product shipments by fiscal 2030.
