SG Moving will demonstrate bulk collection of household air conditioners in Chiba Prefecture. Following its selection for a Ministry of the Environment model project, it will begin a demonstration integrating collection through recycling, running from 1 November 2026 to 17 January 2027.
SG Moving announced that it had been selected for a collection demonstration model project aimed at increasing urban mining recovery volumes under the Ministry of the Environment’s supplementary budget for fiscal 2025, and would implement a bulk collection model for household air conditioners in Chiba Prefecture. The project covers household room air conditioners discarded in Chiba Prefecture, with specialist staff handling removal, removal from inside the home and collection, through to recycling.
The person discarding the appliance will incur no collection cost, which will be borne by the demonstration project. Applications will be made through a dedicated webpage, with collection dates arranged thereafter. Recycling will be carried out appropriately in accordance with the Home Appliance Recycling Act.
The demonstration will run from 1 November 2026 to 17 January 2027, with the aim of assessing the number of applications, collection results, user evaluations and operational issues.
The project aims to promote the recovery of useful mineral resources as urban mining and contribute to improved collection convenience and the wider adoption of proper recycling through publicity activities conducted in cooperation with municipalities in Chiba Prefecture.
