OCN Mobile ONE has announced the end of new applications, and Japan Communications SIM is considered a leading option for switching to another provider. Japan Communications SIM offers an extremely low-priced plan on the DOCOMO network, starting at ¥290 per month, while IIJmio is also cited as a comparison option.
OCN Mobile ONE stopped accepting new applications on 26 June 2023, and Japan Communications SIM is now considered the leading successor candidate. Selectra provides a detailed comparison of low-cost SIMs that use the same DOCOMO network, focusing on Japan Communications SIM.
Japan Communications SIM offers low-priced plans such as Rational Simple 290. This is a tiered plan starting at ¥290 for 1GB, with additional charges as data usage increases. Call charges are ¥11 per 30 seconds, and options such as unlimited 5-minute calls are also available.
Both OCN Mobile ONE and Japan Communications SIM use the DOCOMO network, support 5G and charge an initial fee of ¥3,300. By contrast, Japan Communications SIM has not disclosed its speed after the data allowance is exceeded, while OCN Mobile ONE remains available at speeds of up to 200kbps after the allowance is exceeded. Differences in some additional data charges and whether data rollover is available are also being compared.
Since OCN Mobile ONE no longer accepts new applications, Japan Communications SIM is currently considered a reasonable option to consider. The conclusion is that Japan Communications SIM's low price is attractive for people who do not use much data.
