The Nikkei Stock Average recovered to the ¥64,000 range for the first time in about a week, with buying leading the Tokyo market following gains in AI-related stocks in the U.S. market the previous day.
The Nikkei Average rose from the opening of trading today, gaining more than ¥900 on a closing-price basis and recovering to the ¥64,000 range for the first time in about a week.
The move is believed to reflect the Tokyo market’s follow-through from gains in AI and semiconductor stocks in the New York market the previous day. The market confirmed a return to the ¥64,000 range for the first time since the 22nd.
Market participants said concerns over massive investment in AI-related businesses were easing, while others said they were closely watching this week’s earnings announcements from Alphabet and Microsoft.
