Traders Securities conducted an outreach lesson on financial and economic education for students in the International Cooperation and Social Issues Seminar at Shibuya Ward Yoyogi Junior High School. The lesson was held at the Nishihara Campus from 13:10 to 15:00 on Friday, 18 September 2026, for 26 first- to third-year junior high school students. The lecturer was Tomoya Uchida (内田智也) of the company's Market Division.
The lesson consisted of two parts. The first part, on foreign exchange, provided specific explanations of the background to yen appreciation and depreciation, the concept of interest rates, the role of central banks, global interest rates and the effects of compound interest, and the factors behind currency price fluctuations, while touching on the links between daily life and the global economy. The second part, on companies and equities, covered the role of companies, the mechanisms of profits and taxes, the perspective of a shareholder, the significance of investment, and the concepts of long-term, regular-investment and diversified investing, viewing investment in relation to society.
As part of the learning through practical exercises, students worked in groups to consider how changes in international conditions and the economic environment affect foreign exchange and investment decisions. The lesson emphasised comparing multiple sources of information, organising the reasons for each option, and making decisions through that process. As an outcome of the lesson, the significance of linking improvements in students' financial literacy with their understanding of social trends was emphasised, and a policy of continuing to collaborate with educational institutions was presented.
