NIPPN CORPORATION announced a price increase for commercial-use wheat flour from deliveries scheduled for 19 December. The increase reflects the government’s higher selling price for imported wheat. The size of the increase has been set by product category.
NIPPN CORPORATION announced on the 9th that it would raise prices for commercial-use wheat flour from deliveries scheduled for 19 December. The government has raised its selling price for imported wheat, and the company cited a policy of passing higher transportation costs on to prices. The increase is expected to apply to three categories: strong flour for bread, medium- and weak-flour types for udon and confectionery products, and flour made from 100% domestic wheat.
The specific increases will be ¥295 per 25 kilograms for strong flour, ¥240 for medium- and weak-flour types, and ¥395 for flour made from 100% domestic wheat. The government has raised the price of imported wheat to ¥70,020 per tonne (weighted average of 5 brands). The increase is attributed to supply concerns stemming from drought in the United States and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, with prices reaching their highest level in three and a half years.
