菊水酒造 is offering its competition-entry sake, “Kikusui’s Competition-Entry Sake,” from a tap at the “Kanpai in Niigata” booth at Niigata Airport for a limited time. The tap will be installed from 26 August to 2 September, allowing visitors to pour their own sake.
On 26 August 2026, 菊水酒造 announced on its official X account that it would set up an interactive corner where sake flows from a tap at the “Kanpai in Niigata” booth inside Niigata Airport. The offering is the company’s competition-entry sake, described as a daiginjo carefully brewed from rice selected by the brewery.
The tap will be installed from 26 August to 2 September. Visitors can purchase a stamp-card-style ticket called the “Kanpai Passport” and pour the sake themselves from the tap at the counter. The booth aims to offer a new experience of pouring sake from a tap and to let visitors enjoy the region’s food culture in bite-sized portions.
Video posted by 菊水酒造 on its official X account shows sake flowing when the tap is turned. Visitors responded with comments such as, “I want one of these taps at home,” while others expressed disappointment that they had driven there. The competition-entry sake is introduced as a daiginjo carefully brewed for submission to the Annual Japan Sake Awards.
The company is also known for launching “菊水 ふなぐち,” Japan’s first canned sake, in 1972. The event is positioned as part of 菊水酒造’s efforts to promote its brand.
