NVIDIA’s DGX Spark, an AI-focused PC priced above ¥1 million, has become the top-selling product in Japan’s mini PC market, outperforming mainstream products. Demand is growing, particularly among companies and developers, to run AI on their own desks.
NVIDIA’s AI-focused computer, DGX Spark, took first place in Japan’s mini PC market in the popular sales ranking for mini PCs and stick PCs as of the 23rd. Its price of ¥1,078,000 is high, at roughly 10 times the price of similarly priced models. DGX Spark has 128GB of unified memory and is designed to run AI models with up to 200 billion parameters directly.
At the same time, Lenovo’s AI computer, which uses the same GB10 chip as NVIDIA, ranked fourth at around ¥930,000, putting AI development devices priced at around ¥1 million among the top-ranked products. Japan’s IT media outlet ASCII reported DGX Spark’s rise in the rankings and conveyed an analysis that a local AI boom was under way.
As an example of adoption by a Japanese company, real estate technology company トグルホールディングス supplied DGX Spark units to its engineers. An event was also held in Tokyo where DGX Spark users brought their systems together to develop an AI game. These developments are seen as evidence of a shift from dependence on the cloud toward building in-house AI infrastructure.
The broader market trend in Japan has been marked by growing demand for local AI, with a movement toward operating AI in-house rather than relying solely on the cloud. DGX Spark’s popularity is viewed as a symbolic example of this trend.
