Tokyo stocks extended their gains through the morning close. The Nikkei 225 traded in the upper ¥70,400s, supported by persistent buying despite limited upside.
The Nikkei 225 stood at ¥70,465.35 at the morning close, up ¥518.49 from the previous close. Buying led the broader market, with funds flowing into equities against a backdrop of firm US stocks and currency movements.
The Dow rose ¥90.94 to 51,267.90, and buying interest spread across global equity markets. Although the Tokyo market's upside was limited, buying catalysts continued to support prices.
In the foreign exchange market, the dollar-yen pair traded in the lower ¥158 range, and currency movements also acted as a factor pushing share prices higher. Overall, the market maintained levels above ¥70,000, while the limited upside remained a focus.
