The cancer genomic test “Fujinokuni HOPE Onco Panel,” jointly developed by Shizuoka Cancer Center and SRL, will be covered by national health insurance from 1 November 2026, with testing services to begin at medical institutions nationwide from 2 November 2026.
As group news, the cancer genomic profiling test “Fujinokuni HOPE Onco Panel” will be covered by national health insurance, and testing services for medical institutions nationwide are scheduled to begin. Testing will be conducted by SRL and the Shizuoka Cancer Center Joint Testing Organization.
The product received marketing approval from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and became eligible for national health insurance coverage as a product for cancer genomic testing that includes polymorphisms in drug-metabolizing enzyme-related genes among its analysis targets. Testing will begin on 2 November 2026.
The product was developed using the results of the joint research project “Project HOPE” conducted by Shizuoka Cancer Center and SRL, with support from the Pharma Valley Project. It targets a total of 410 genes and is intended to provide information on genetic changes in cancer and assist in determining treatment strategies.
Regarding comments from the clinical setting, the announcement states that the test has been designed for ease of use by healthcare professionals, including by completing the testing process in Japan, establishing a quality-control system and providing reports in Japanese. It also expresses the intention to continue contributing to the wider adoption and development of genomic medicine for cancer.
