EQT, a European investment fund, announced that it had raised its TOB price for Kakaku.com to ¥3,682 per share and extended the TOB deadline to the 28th of this month. This marks the sixth price increase by the fund.
EQT, a European investment fund, announced on the 14th that it had raised its TOB price for Kakaku.com, which operates the restaurant information site Tabelog and other services, from ¥3,681 to ¥3,682 per share and extended the deadline to the 28th of this month. The announcement was disclosed in an amended tender offer registration statement submitted to the Kanto Local Finance Bureau.
This marks the sixth increase in the TOB price by EQT. In May, it launched a TOB at ¥3,000 per share, with the offer period running through July, but LINE Yahoo and US investment firm Bain Capital subsequently submitted a joint proposal, intensifying competition.
Most recently, on 29 September, EQT raised the price from ¥3,680 to ¥3,681 and extended the deadline from that day to 14 October. Meanwhile, the LINE Yahoo group has explained that it is planning a TOB at ¥3,720 if it can secure the cooperation of KDDI, Kakaku.com's largest shareholder, and at ¥3,597 if it cannot.
