Rapidus and HCLTech have announced a collaboration and will open 2 semiconductor development centers in India to strengthen their advanced design support capabilities. They will also collaborate on developing and securing engineers in Japan and India.
Rapidus and HCLTech announced on 26 October that they would collaborate in the field of next-generation semiconductor technologies. Through 2 newly established development centers, they aim to strengthen support for the design and development of advanced semiconductors.
Under the collaboration, HCLTech will draw on its expertise in semiconductor engineering to cover areas including mask design, design infrastructure, PDK development, DTCO and layout design.
The development centers will serve as bases supporting advanced design processes, and are expected to contribute to the development and securing of talent in Japan by leveraging engineering personnel in India.
Rapidus CEO Atsuyoshi Koike (小池淳義) said the company aims to build a dedicated development structure that leverages India's engineering capabilities to complement its operations in Japan. HCLTech CEO C Vijayakumar emphasized that advanced semiconductors will shape future technology trends.
The collaboration is drawing attention for its significance in linking Japan's semiconductor manufacturing base with India's engineering talent.
